Mike Moran MBE
Chief Executive Officer
Mike Moran is a founder of Rutherford Health, parent company to Rutherford Diagnostics, and has thirty years of experience in strategic leadership, planning and programme delivery with a proven track record in developing early start-up businesses with the potential for rapid growth. Mike has served as Chairman of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Learning and Skills Council where he oversaw £60 million of capital projects within the two Counties.
General Manager (Rutherford Estates & Rutherford Infrastructures)
John McIntosh has more than three decades of experience planning and delivering healthcare in challenging environments worldwide. As the General Manager of Rutherford Estates and Rutherford Infrastructures, he leads the infrastructure delivery and estates management arm of Rutherford Health. Prior to joining Rutherford John was an Army Officer with extensive experience in conceiving, planning and leading healthcare provision across the world.
Marcus King joined Rutherford Health in 2016 and was appointed acting Finance Director and Company Secretary in August 2019, before being formally appointed to the Board of Rutherford Health in February 2021. Prior to joining Rutherford Health, Marcus spent eleven years at Illinois Tool Works, with his tenure culminating in a global group finance role responsible for a group of consumables businesses delivering US$200m revenue per annum.
Chief AHP, Head of Imaging & Operations
Jill Mckenna is a Diagnostic Radiographer who has worked in MRI for over 20 years, and has an MSc in MRI and a PGC in Clinical Leadership. As the professional lead for Rutherford Diagnostics, her responsibilities include quality and governance, as well as education and training. She is a QSI assessor (formerly ISAS) supporting her passion for quality and standards in imaging. Jill also worked as a radiographer at the Olympic Games in London.
Head of Programme
Ron Russell has over thirty-five years of experience in leadership and management roles in the Defence and Healthcare sectors. He is an experienced strategic healthcare planner who has delivered difficult and complex projects in challenging environments. He was a key member of the team that delivered proton beam therapy to the UK, and was central to delivering the UK’s fourth Rutherford Cancer Centre in his home city of Liverpool.
Head of Professional Standards
Rachel Greening is a member of the Executive Team in Rutherford Health and is responsible for overseeing all regulatory requirements and quality management frameworks across the group which includes all company subsidiaries such as Rutherford Diagnostics. As Lead Auditor for the Company Rachel ensures all quality management systems across the group are audited and continually monitored and improved.
Liz Hopes is Commercial Advisor to Rutherford Diagnostics, combining her strong health sector knowledge gained from working within the NHS, with the commercial advisory experience gained from 15 years at KPMG. Liz has advised the Department of Health on major capital projects, established the programme management office within an acute hospital, and supported the delivery of integrated funds across health and social care.
Penny Owens is Radiography Advisor to Rutherford Diagnostics. As a Diagnostic Radiographer, she has held NHS posts such as Chief Radiographer, Imaging General Manager, and Director of Allied Health Professionals. She serves on four national steering committees: Royal College of Radiologists, Society & College of Radiographers, Health Education England, and QSI Standard Review, and is a Specialist Inspector for the Care Quality Commission.
